Professor Andy McIntosh

What's the talk about?

Professor Andy McIntosh (Leeds) holds an emeritus chair in Thermodynamics and Combustion Theory, and has lectured and researched in the field of Combustion and Explosions for over 20 years. Author of over 180 papers and articles, his reserach has included investigations involving ignition, combusion and flame propogation in fluids and solids. His work has also included investigations into the fundamental link between thermodyanamics and information, and in the last few years he has been involved in research in the area of boimimetics where the minute combusion chamber of the bombadier beetle has inspired a patented novel spray technology with application to fuel injectors; pharmaceutical spras, fire extinguishers and aerosols. This research was awarded the 2010 Times Higer Educational award for the Outstanding Contribution to Innovation and Technology. He is married with 3 children and 5 grandchildren.

Andy is a committed Christian and will be speaking in a personal capacity on "A Sceptical View of Atheism."
